This morning we checked out of our hotel and went to pick up car #2 for our trip. Safe to say driving in San Fran was the scariest drive so far, people just look out for themselves here and have no regard for others!
Thankfully we weren’t driving around the city for too long. We headed straight to Golden Gate Park and had a look around, before being tempted inside the California Academy of Sciences.
Pretty cool place! We saw no end of wildlife up-close:
Those are all real. I will admit, however, that these aren’t…
Could’ve fooled you though, eh?!
After that, we spent some time in San Francisco’s Botanical Gardens, which certainly put Sheffield’s to shame.
After this we left San Francisco and headed for Santa Cruz. Got caught in awful traffic that added about 45 minutes on to our journey – driving in America may be fun most of the time but NOT when you are being over taken by snails.
We made it to our hotel right on the beach and headed straight for the boardwalk.
The beach here is so nice! Along the beach they have loads of amusement rides (typically the night we are here, Girl Scouts have hired out the amusements for a private party. Selfish or what!!!)
We made our way in to an arcade and wiled the night away playing games. Turns out I am a lot better at Pac-Man than I thought, after winning a jackpot and getting reams upon reams of tickets that I had no use for.
I have never felt so much like a pedo walking around the arcade looking for a kid who looked like a worthy cause to receive my tickets! But then at the same time, I’ve never felt like such a saint after giving them to a little girl who responded with “WOAH!!!!”
Gonna get some serious good karma from that! If I don’t, I want my tickets back.
